NVM, I have used Theme Resource Changer, workout flawlessly, do not know what bad sides Theme Resource Changer has though.

Hi, big thanks for the BlackMarket theme, I've been using it just from the moment I got my notebook with Win 7 x64 on it.

After recent update, some of the explorer elements (glitches in Control Panel and Default Backward\Forward buttons) returned to their previous state. Immediately, I downloaded and replaced system files with modded ones (Shell32.dll and Explorerframe.dll accordingly to System32 and SysWOW64), after that my system stopped loading. Gladly I have had the whole disk backup and original files.

Of course I can leave with those Glitches and default buttons, but it would be really cool and kind of you, if you could spend some time to look at the issue and fix the problem.

Thank in advance!

After update replacing SHELL32.DLL and Explorerframe in System32 and WOW system folders leads to inoperable system. Any fix?

Just want to pay my respects. I've been using this skin for years now. It is an amazing skin and I haven't found one better. Thank you so much, I get compliments on it all the time. :D

I like this theme a lot, but I can't replace the Explorerframe in system32, it says I do not have the authorization. But I already am an Admnisitrator, I turned off the UAC, tried to "take ownership", used the command prompt, checked the boxes on the security tab in properties etc
I don't know what to do to fix it.

Just want to say I've been using for over 3 years on all my Windows laptops. Best ever, highly recommend. I'm looking for an implementation in GTK3.

Any chance of a win10 edition?  My habits for using Hackervision and dark themes have meant the default win10 white backgrounds for explorer are horrid now D:
ugurcode Featured By Owner Oct 9, 2015
have you tried installing it on win10

been using Ashtray (borderless) for 'yonks' and even though have lot's of trouble with dark text on dark backround (wish i could write 'Stylish' scripts) it's still better than any alternatives i've come across, so kudos big-time to Sol .

Do you want to make it perfect?
Cold light 0 is superb for light theme but for dark themes here's some errors.

I've been trying to solve why this theme makes windows update show nothing, anyone have a fix?
ziplineattack Featured By Owner Aug 3, 2015
What do you mean "show nothing"? Are you unable to obtain windows updates anymore?
frednking Featured By Owner Jun 15, 2015
Hello, please can you tell me how to uninstall the theme?
ugurcode Featured By Owner Oct 9, 2015
enter cmd
press enter
enter sfc /scannow
press enter
wait, it takes a while
ziplineattack Featured By Owner Edited Aug 3, 2015
Control Panel>Personalization>Theme/Change Theme.
Selecting the classic Windows 7 Aero theme will auto-deselect the Kitsch theme.
This isn't an application that needs to be uninstalled. It's a visual style/.theme that can be put into play or just sitting on the bench until you call it into action. If you want to remove it from the bench so-to-speak you can navigate to the theme folder and delete Kitsch.
Should be C:\Windows\resources\themes if I'm not mistaken. Or you can leave it there - it won't cause any problems once you revert back to the old classic Aero theme.
I hope this helps you and others.

Is this still being supported?  I see a lot of unanswered questions.  For me, I am looking to install it on a 7601 build Win 7.  I see instructions for 6801 (in the readme) and some SP1 system files (here), but I am a newb and a bit nervous about changing system files without an updated "how to."
ziplineattack Featured By Owner Edited Aug 3, 2015
SolMiler just replied to someone else on Mar 5, 2015 so he's still alive.
I recommend creating a system restore point before tinkering around if you are nervous.
To create a restore point, click the Start button and type "system restore" in the search text box, select "Create a restore point" and follow the prompts. If things get hairy you can always load the restore point to get back to where you were system/settings-wise.

Hi the Black Market theme still has some white backgrounds in Task Manager and search boxes, how do I fix this? Thanks for these beautiful themes!

I absolutely like the Ashtray theme. Only a shame that the notification flashing is almost invisible, it being dark purple. I wish it'd be yellow or something.

Seems to be working fine in windows, but is there any way I can apply this theme for right-click menus to Chrome? It's pretty jarring going from muted grey menus to white.

Also, how do I remove the icons from the right-click menu, like in the screenshots? Googling this throws up results for some dodgy looking software called 'Ultimate Windows Customiser'.
cip6192 Featured By Owner Mar 17, 2015  Student Interface Designer
can this work without SP1 installed?
mcsonboy Featured By Owner Mar 12, 2015
Love the look of this theme, but I can't seem to get it properly installed. Maybe I'm misreading the README file, but I thought that I followed all the instructions correctly, but when I go to theme changer in Control Panel the themes are not displayed there. And when I click on the theme within windows explorer they don't work either. Little lost on where to go from here
xVividTangerine Featured By Owner May 2, 2015
Try taking control of the Themes folder itself, then copying your files over to there.
Do Ashtray/Black Market Borderless 1 work on windows 8/8.1? And if so, do I use the explorerframe, dll from the download ,rar? Do I use the shell32,dll and wmploc, dll from the big ,rar or from the update for SP1 ,rar?

Also, is there an option to combine the selection thing from Angst with Ashtray(this thing: i,imgur,com/AgZ3GQs,png)?

I new to this stuff and these themes look really cool, I really like to try one of them out!
sirPls3 Featured By Owner Edited Feb 27, 2015
Hello sir, this looks amazing. I'm using Black Market1 & 2. The only problem I got is that when I try to open 'Save as' window from many applications (firefox, chrome, libre office, etc.) the left menus are missing and I can't navigate through the folders easily. Otherwise when I open explorer I can see them. Check screenshot  Anyone else using Black Market without this problem? - please report!

Please let me know if there's a sollution to this.

I know I could run 'sfc /scannow' but I guess that would revert all my system files and make this skin non-working.

I did a little research and according to this thread this problem is caused by the system file Explorerframe.dll this skin uses…
SolMiler Featured By Owner Mar 5, 2015
you've probably messed up explorerframe.dll locations. 32bit explorerframe.dll goes to syswow64 folder, and 64bit explorerframe.dll goes to system32. That's how MS made it. Hope this will fix the problem.
underskyzx Featured By Owner Feb 16, 2015
I had a bit of trouble and everything just broke down, I decided to do the thing right and after running a sfc /scannow to restore the system I followed CAREFULY the instructions reading them over and over again until I knew exactly what I was doing.

Result: Everything working!

Thanks for this awesome theme, If you don't mind a suggestion, I think the scrolling bar from Black Market 2 should be the same as Black Market 1...

I LOVE THIS THEME. However, I do have a small glitch that is kind of an issue. When I use VisualStudio now my window breaks? Advice?

Details: The icons on the top bar allowing me to search folders and refresh is just missing...
guitar80ep Featured By Owner Feb 10, 2015
Actually its any file open menu from applications... There is no address bar.

Great Job!!!

I tried a few complex themes for the first time over the weekend without really doing my homework on the matter and ended up breaking my system. I backed everything up beforehand though so I was able to laugh it off. I decided I didn't want to mess around with system files and started looking for a more basic approach, with the intent of finding a nice calm theme that gets me away from seeing bright white windows all the time. And that my friend, is where you came in.

Followed your tutorial and chose the basic version of your "Black Market" and I couldn't be happier! I stare at ugly nauseating white windows all day every day at work, so this will be great to come home to. Thanks again man, this has actually improved by life.

Anyone looking for a great theme also offering simple drag and drop versions of itself?

helgatheviking Featured By Owner Jan 3, 2015
Love this theme! But I've had issues with some windows having dark text on dark background as seen in this screenshot. There also seems to be an issue with borders: Still this is 100x better than windows default.
